My banking is through a federal credit union. Has anyone had any trouble using debit cards in europe that weren't from a major bank?

I have used an ATM and Visa issued by my credit union for 5 trips to Europe, with no problem. they are part of the worldwide networks shown on every ATM, and I inform my credit union before I go that I will be using them overseas.

I belong to a one branch credit union. I've never had a problem using my debit card anywhere in the world; including rural China. As long as the card is affiliated with a major network, you should have no major issues.

I bank with Desert Schools as well and had no problem using my debit card to withdraw cash the 2 weeks I was in Italy last year.
