Sorry for all of the Amsterdam questions, but I have one more. I've decided against going to Belgium for a day (thanks to you!) and am leaning towards going to Den Hag and Delft for a day trip out of A'dam.
I'm looking at doing the Delft factory tour/paint your own tile (to have it shipped later) and was wondering if any of you had done this or know someone who has. Is it worth it? We've done hand painted tiles in our kitchen so this might be something to add. Its cheaper to do your own than to buy one - and I thought it might make a great souveneir for later. (37,50 to paint your own, 47 Euro for a tile)
What do you think?
Thanks in advance for your help!
No apologies necessary, Bonne; Holland's a wonderful country but there's so much packed into a small area, it does make choices difficult. Have lived/worked in Holland, Delft was my favourite Sat/Sun outing to unwind, and I've never been to the Delft factory. The missus and I leave in a week for UK/NL/etc, Den Haag will be our home base over 6 days in NL, and neither she (the crafts/decor/home decorating person) nor I wish to visit the factory. As I recall, your out of A'Dam visit is only one day and the factory tour/make tile part of it could eat up a lot of time. Not the same, I know, but there are so many Delftware dealers on the square selling authentic (and very beautiful) Delftware that I believe you're better off to leave the factory for another trip. While we're not visiting the factory, we will be buying a set of Delftware tile house numbers (3 sets grace former houses we've lived in) for our 'new' place. You'll see them on sale, buy a set for your house. Enjoy NL.
