Hi everyone
Looking for the best places to visit over Dec/Jan in Europe. Live in Australia and so have never seen a "white" Christmas. Also understand that days will be shorter - have been to france/italy in Sept/Oct before - looking at possibility of Maribor (Slovenia) for Christmas as base and travel by public transport from there.
Might need a definition of what you think is best. If you want cold and snow, Germany and north of there would be best. We are just back from three weeks of Christmas markets in Germany and Czech Republic. It was cold and snowy and perfect.
It may be that you want to focus on the issue of a realistic expectation for the weather in Slovenia in January. Haven't been there in January. The website we usually suggest for getting historical actual weather data for different times of the year doesn't include Slovenia. Cold, obviously, but how cold might enter into your planning.
