We are starting in Paris on the 17th of December and leave from Paris on the 5th of January. We are planning to visit with our son in Paris (he's been there for the semester) and then head to southern France. On our way south we want to visit family friends in Saumur for 2 days, then Nantes for 2 days. We are considering going by rail to both then from Nantes to Lyons where we'll rent a car and go south to Aix en Provence. We will stay there 3-4 nights and explore the area including Marseilles. After, we plan to drive along the coast and visit small towns such as Cassis. I realize the weather may limit some of what we do. How much time should we allow in each place? We were considering going to Italy through some small towns before making our way back to Paris. Does it make more sense to stay in southern France and maybe go to Corsica for a few days?
Thanks.
