DB German Rail to kill overnight trains

DB German Rail announced they will discontinue certain overnight trains between European cities. The following routes will no longer be served in 2015:

  • Copenhagen - Amsterdam
  • Copenhagen - Prague
  • Copenhagen - Basel
  • Paris - Hamburg
  • Paris - Berlin

  • Paris - Munich

  • Warsaw - Amsterdam will end in Cologne

  • Prague - Amsterdam will end in Cologne

All other night trains will not be affected from route closures.

This is indeed bad news especially for summer travel in 2015. But I can be glad that Berlin-Munich and Hamburg-Munich are not among these routes to be discontinued, as well as Frankfurt-Wien and Frankfurt-Budapest. Both Paris-Berlin and Paris-Munich can be done easily taking the early morning departure and changing once.
