Daylight in Scotland - September 28-October 6

We only have 10 days to tour Scotland and England.
If we take a train that leaves Edinburgh at 4:44 P.M. and arrives in Inverness around 8:00 P.M., how much daylight will we have?
To be more specific, what time would we have to leave Edinburgh in order to see the scenery on the way to Inverness?
I know the days will be short, but we're going North first and then heading down into England.

I use this site Time & Date for each trip. You can change the country/city you want to research, as well as the month.

It's usually a little light until about 1/2 hour after sunset, but I think it will be completely dark shortly before 8. You can probably see the scenery almost the whole way because the last bit will be coming into the city and station.

I know the days will be short,

I have to say not really to that. It is only just after the autumn equinox where day and night are roughly the same. With summer time in operation therefore you would arrive at 20:00 more or less at the end of civil twilight.
