Day trips with WW2/Holocaust sites

Hello Everyone!
Leaving in a couple of weeks with my dear sister to Amsterdam, Cologne, Brussels, and Paris to mainly see a couple of Christmas markets and enjoy the holiday season in Europe which we haven't done since we were children (celebrating Chrismukkah!). I have my itinerary planned out but need ideas on day trips just incase something goes wrong (always good to have a backup plan Dad always said!)...We will be in Amsterdam for 4 nights, Cologne 4 nights, Brussels 3 nights, and Paris 5 nights. What I really would like is to reconnect with our past and choose towns with a significant history of the Holocaust (Dad's side of the family died at Sobibor). Our family is originally from Leiden in the Netherlands (Dad) and Schorisse, Belgium (Mom). We grew up in the Lille/Roubaix but was never told anything about what occurred during the war. I am a Jewish historian and my sister is heavily into finding our family roots. All travel will be by public transport and/or by foot.

I was thinking the following:
Amsterdam - Amersfoort
Cologne - Deutz
Brussels - Mechelen
Paris - Drancy

I am not thinking about doing all towns listed above as daytrips just keep them in mind in case something I had planned on doing is no longer doable because of unknown forces. Would you recommend another city/town instead? Thank you so much in advance!

I've not been there, but I believe there is a site in Paris (a stadium or cycling racetrack) that was used as a location for rounding up Jews.

Thank you for the quick response!
Anne Frank is on schedule to be the 1st stop after arriving in Amsterdam - it has been on my list since I first read her diary when I was 9 years old. My pilgrimage.

I wasn't aware of the site in Paris - need to look that up.

We visited Hollandse Schouwburg, aka The National Holocaust Memorial. This is a very moving site, especially for anyone with any Holocaust connection. Here's the web info: hollandscheschouwburg.nl/en

Don't miss the Dutch Resistance Museum in Amsterdam. Unique and very well done. Be sure to see the short introductory film first.

Seconding Lo's suggestion for the Dutch Resistance Museum. I recommend you do it before you do the Anne Frank House if you can manage. I would not do both in the same day just because it may be draining for you.

There is also the Corrie Ten Boom house in Haarlem which is a short train ride away from Amsterdam.

We have been to Anne Frank's house twice off season and had no lines to get in, maybe we were just lucky but others will recommend getting tickets ahead of time. Our absolute favorite however was the Ten Boom Museum in Haarlem, I seem to remember maybe fifteen minutes away by train and then maybe fifteen minute walk from train station, can be done in a half day and truly worthwhile. Look up information on line before you go as to their hours and how to tour the place. Story of the family who hid Jews during the war is heart warming.

If you are going to be in the Netherlands, then you might want to visit Westerbork. This is where the Frank family was 1st sent before they were all sent to Auschwitz. Later on, the 2 girls were sent on to Bergen-Belsen, where they died a about 2 weeks before the British Army liberated this Concentration Camp.

There are several different tours you could go on in Amsterdam that would add immensely to your visit.

Central Cologne has the largest and one of the oldest Nazi "Documentation Centres" in Germany, in the former Gestapo HQ on Appellhofplatz.
