My 20 years old son really wants to visit some castle on our trip. We were thinking of Chateau de Chillon. We want to go up on the mountains as well via bus, train, tram etc.. What are good recommendation that is near Montreux? This will be in mid August. Thank you.

Glacier3000 which you reach from the village of Les Diablerets, quite close to Montreux, is probably your best bet for a (close by) high alpine experience in summer. Explore the activities and views on the website:

Verbier is also not far...from the top of the lifts you have incredible views over the Swiss and French Alps!
