Day tours from Salzburg to Hallstatt

My parents took Bob's bus tours (minibus) from Salzburg to Hallstatt and Loved It. They are pretty pricey though, 80 euros, and that doesn't include any activities once you get there, you chose and pay for those yourself. Are there any other day tours that are cheaper and still great quality? Or is Bob's worth the money? Thanks!

So was all they got for their money the transportation to Hallstadt? Was that €80 for both or for only one?

Using public transportation you can go from downtown Salzburg (Hbf) to Hallstatt for €11,80 per person each way. The trip takes just over 2 hours and goes by bus to Bad Ischl, then by train to Hallstatt. See http://efa.svv-info.at/svv/index_en.htm for query page, www.svv-info.at for more complete info.

Jenny, we suggest you consider staying in a B&B or hotel in Hallstatt - at least two nights. Everyone loves the place! You may never pass that way again.
Gute Reise... P.

We took the train from Salzburg to Halstatt and then the boat "Stephanie" across the lake to Halstatt. No need for an organized tour. This is the most beautiful place on earth! Be sure to walk/hike to Das Eishole, the underground caverns. Absolutely breathtaking!! The funicular ride back down gives a great view!
