What is the best route to take to do the drive ourselves? We want to see both the German and American cemetaries, Point du Hoc, etc.

Vikki, get a good map, a highliter, make a list of points of intrest to you, fire up the google, do some basic reasearch and make your own route. Its not hard, and by North American standards a fairly small area with lots of pleasant country roads. Or take one of the expensive tours that someone here will suggest. If your going to do the cemeteries, don't forget the British and Canadian, they are kept up as gardens and have a much different feel to them.
