Ok, silly question- when flying from the US to Portugal, via CDG, we would go through customs in Paris, correct? Is a 90 minute layover enough time? Other option is a 6 hour layover. Thanks!
You go through immigration in France, and through customers in Portugal, once you've picked up your luggage.
Customs however usually just involves walking through the green channel, unless you have something to declare.
Oh right. Thanks. So would 90 minutes be enough time for immigration at CDG? It took close to 2 hours in Brussels last summer.
Is a 90 minute layover enough time?
It is enough time as long as the first flight arrives on time. If you don't make the connection and you bought this as one ticket the airline will be liable and just put you on the next flight with available seats to Portugal.
... bought this as one ticket (?)
That is the critical issue.
If it is a single ticket, it's the airlines problem to solve.
If you are piecing together two tickets you are on scary thin ice. If you have checked bags on a two ticket trip, your chances of success are for all practical purposes, zero
Thanks - it’s a single ticket - Delta flying to Porto through CDG. So the alternative, which is probably the one I will buy, has a 6 hour layover. Any good way to kill a few hours? Two adults and a 13 year old. Otherwise it’s flying to Lisbon and getting on a train which also seems like a day long thing.
