Customer service for Eurail reservation?

I am having a terrible time trying to make a reservation online for a route that has a reservation requirement. I have a Global pass and have emailed eurail but they say there is no customer service for reservations. Is this correct? Im trying to book a train which uses Thalys as part of the journey.
Any suggestions?

Eurail doesn't run any trains. Best way to reserve a seat is via the company actually operating the train you want to reserve. I.e. Thalys in your case.

So sorry you’re in the Eurail mess. If you had just bought a ticket directly you could have gotten a reduction on the date but purchasing early and your reservation would have been included at no cost.

Good that you got the Pass. There are Eurail Aid offices in different cities to help English speaking pass holders, regardless of the person's nationality. Making reservations is one their jobs. I've never used their services on reservations but for a "clear-up."

A few years back the conductor punched my Pass not on the correct date but on the line between 2 travel days...certainly was not direct shot.

To avoid any confusion, and so, I went to the Eurail Aid office in Munich Hbf since I was there anyway to get this cleared up. It was. No future travel day problems for the rest of the 10 day pass ensued. I had a 10 day/2 months Pass in 2nd class.

Assuming you're going to be in Belgium, I would suggest this...worth a shot. The Eurail Aid office is in Gare de Bruxelles-Midi (South Train Station, Brussels). The tel # is: (02) 528 28 28. Reservations on Thalys trains are mandatory.

"I'm trying to book a train which uses Thalys as part of the journey."

Separate out only the Thalys part of the journey and request just that reservation. Any connecting leg that doesn't offer reservations will result in "not available." Also, since some different country reservations are pulled from different databases, that can be another reason to break up the trip into its parts.

You can do this at https://ricksteves.mytraintravel.com/, or (only) if you bought the pass from Eurail.com, then you can use their online system. The Thalys web site does not handle passholder reservations; they sell them in stations or by phone (at +32 70 66 77 88.).

I am having a terrible time also! Trying to make a seat reservation on TGV from Munich to Paris and their self service reservation system keeps plugging in an old pass number and telling me it’s expired! Won’t let me correct and no phone number for customer service. Very frustrating! I will try TGV directly. Maybe that will work! ☹️

I asked a D-Bahn ticket employee this summer if I could by a reservation only online with a Eurail pass. The answer is no. You have to do it in person at a ticket office in the station. I have never found the ability to buy just a reservation anywhere online for a Eurail pass in any country. Maybe someone here has done it. Be interested to know what country systems just sell reservations.

Once you are in country of the reservation needed. You can buy a reservation in way in advance.

DB does sell separate seat reservations online for domestic trains, but not for international. It is rare in doing so (among national railway web sites), but that's probably because reservations have not typically been built into their tickets, as they are for faster trains in France, Spain, and Italy, for instance.

caratcameron, even if you bought your pass from Eurail.com, you can still buy reservations from Rail Europe; they don't ask for a pass number. And unless you're taking the direct train at 6:45 a.m., you also may benefit from requesting the two reserved legs separately. (But do try clearing cookies first.)
