Current Tariffs for souvenirs - OR- will my Belgium chocolate get taxed???

I have been attempting research on this topic, but find conflicting answers, and as we know, the policy seems fluid. I'm aware of the Supreme Court decision, but unsure of the effects of the Executive Order. I'm also unsure if the $800 personal allowance is in place .
So- for those who have returned from Europe recently, did you have any issues, did you have to pay any tariffs? We will be traveling soon.
Thanks so much.

Hi Pat—You’ll be fine. Tariffs apply to items being shipped commercially, not to personal goods carried in your luggage.

More importantly, can you fit $800 worth of chocolate in your suitcase? :-)

Have you seen the price of chocolate recently? The Costco Easter Bunny is $15 per pound.

I suspect $800 of fine Belgian chocolate would be doable.( you decide if that's the good news or bad news)

No one even looked into my bags when I got home yesterday.

I ordered a few tins of olive oil from Italy and they arrived without any extra fees due for tariffs.

Ekscrunchy,
Thanks.
We purchased a painting in Italy spring, 2025, and it arrived without tariffs- until about a month later when the shipper, I think FedEx- sent us a bill for the tariffs.
Maybe we will get that money back now?!

How long can you hold your breath?

Your chocolate has already been taxed. That's the VAT.

The Lindt Easter bunnies cost out at around 65 euro a kilo. You can do better.

I've shipped over $300 worth of chocolate to the USA in the past couple weeks with no issues, and no added cost. The custom Easter bunnies you can find at top confectioners are so much better than anything I ever found in the States.
