Crete to Santorini or Santorini to Crete

Is there a budget airlines that flies from one place to the other in August? Do they fly daily and what would be the cost? Thank you

Why would you take the Ferry? I have read in travel talks that the ferry is uncomfortable and many get sick and from what I've read, it is not much more money to fly. Have you gone on the ferry? Thanks for your help

Yes, I believe there are. Aegean Air flies out of both airports (Heraklion and Santorini), just not sure they have a route direct from Crete to Santorini without a change in Athens. While I was in the Heraklion airport, I also saw a very small air service (10 or 20 passenger planes) that flew to Santorini, but have not been able to find the name of it. Aegean air can be economical, but probably still in the $100 range one way, the other one may be more expensive. Ferry is way cheaper, don't recall exactly, but maybe less than $20. Yes they can be rough if the wind is blowing and the water choppy, but this would be on a high speed or catamaran type ferry. If you took the older, slower, larger ferries; it would be smoother and cheaper, also suggest hanging out on the lowest deck possible.

The ferry would be cheaper but takes longer, unless you take a fast ferry. In August the Med. should be calm enough that it probably won't make you seasick. The other advantage to the ferry is that you arrive in the caldera and if it is daylight, the view is pretty spectacular.

However, airplanes are faster (even with a change in Athens) and you'll get an interesting view of the caldera from the air. Aegean Airline and Olympic Airlines run flights around the islands. There isn't a real budget airline for flying around Greece. There are other little local ones but I don't think you can book them online (I also can't remember their names). The only problem with flying is that you arrive on the non-caldera side of the island and you'll need some way to get to Fira or Oia or wherever you're staying. Many big hotels have shuttle service and there are always taxis and busses and scooters.

Have a great time. I love Greece!
