Creating a travel planning blog for group of travelers

I will be traveling with some friends to Europe next year and instead of having emails go back and forth to each other, I thought it would be easier if we created a blog, where we can post our thoughts on places to see, restaurants, accommodations etc. As well, as keep a travel diary with photos on it as well. Has anyone done this and which blogging site did you use?

I have a travel blog
http://www.travelblog.org/

I haven't posted the direct link to my own personal blog here, but I use this travelblog. People can subscribe so they get an email when you post a new entry. I suppose you and your friends could share the blog when you share the password. You can upload photos, videos, maps etc. I like this site, but there are many others.

I use also google blogger for my work.

There are many option out there. If you do a google search for free blog you will see. I think majority of them offer the same features.
I have a website www.Acrossearth.us and pretty much I can do anything I want on it.With the blog sites you have to use their templates. I only pay $5 per month for hosting. I can provide you with the hosting company if you PM me.

If you create an account with Google (by signing up for google email, aka Gmail), they have an application called:

Google Docs

It's basically a word processing site, but you can get everyone's email and everyone can make suggestions, additions, etc. Each time someone logs on and makes changes or edits the document, it is updated, but the old document is kept too.

Hope this helps.

Tripit works incredibly well. (www.tripit.com) You can just forward all your reservation confirmation emails, and it will automatically populate your itinerary for you. Their software is very smart and gets at least 80-90% of the information - even off the funniest looking confirmations.

You can then set people to view only, traveler, or give them the ability to edit the trip as well.

There are ample functions for notes, and customization.

I used it for our last trip, and really enjoyed it. Soooo much easier than putting it all together yourself!
