We would like to take a class or workshop somewhere in Europe. My husband and I are looking for a different way to experience Europe through either a woodworking class or cooking school. Do any of you know of any? Googling the subject hasn't been very helpful. Thanks.
For cooking experiences try eatwith.com. You can dine in someone's home - many are professional chefs and make it a cook it / eat it format class. It's fantastic! Offered in major cities all around the world...sort of the Airbnb of eating and cooking.
We did Chef Paolo’s cooking class in Lucca. Loved it! He offers week long classes as well.
If you're going to be in England, Amberley Museum ( http://www.amberleymuseum.co.uk/craft-courses ) offers classes in woodworking and other handicrafts. Plus it's a great place to visit in any case.
There are cooking classes throughout Europe but you'll need to be more specific about location when searching, searching for 'cooking classes in Paris' will return many more useful and specific results than 'cooking classes in Europe', likewaise craft workshops.
Are you looking for classes with locals or other tourists? There is a difference in experiences. The museum recommendation above could be researched for other countries - as I would expect this may include locals as well. Otherwise, are you looking for a long term setting in one place where you could participate in a weekend or weekly community college type of course? I know, in the summer, there are art weeks held at various colleges in North America. There may be similar in Europe. Challenge is that many would be in local language.
More info would be helpful.
