Help,
We (three) couldn't get train tickets from Lyon to Milan for the day of the 5th. Whe have a reservation in milan for two nights. What should we do? Go to Turin. Drive,
Bus,
Please help.

There seems to be an overnight Eurolines bus from Lyon's Perrache bus station to Milan. It travels Monday, Wednesday, Friday, and Sunday...so the Sunday night 9:30 departuire would get you into Milan 5:30 am.the morning of Monday the 5th.
But if you can get to Torino by train, do that. There are many trains/day from there to Milan, so you should be able to get tickets at the station there easily enough.

There seem to be tickets available on July 5 from www.tgv-europe.com.
Were you trying to buy from Rail Europe?
To buy from www.tgv-europe.com, tell the web site you live in Great Britain and arrange to pick up your tickets in France. You will need to take the credit card you buy the ticket with to a ticket window or SNCF boutique.

Unfortunately, the only ones available are apparently only available by mail. However, if you check at any French train station as soon as you arrive in France, you may still be able to pick them up.

you could fly via Swiss air but may be pricey due to short notice.
I would continue with Norms recommendations via Torino.
