We would love some advice. We are trying to plans a trip this spring but a hard time trying to decide where to go. We have been to Italy three times most places north of Amalfi coast north, France twice (Paris and southern France) and Barcelona. We are thinking about two different trips but can't decide. One alternative would be Greece, visiting Athens and some islands.
The second alternative going to Prague for two or three days and than to Sicily. Let me know what you guys think. Always got good advice here.
London is fantastic. Athens ok but greek islands are much more scenic with less panhandlers. Actually in athens, at least when we were there, we were bombarded by communist party activists with pamphlets and bullhorns. Poverty seems rampant in athens away from the Acropolis area which was very nice. Ireland and cork area neat to see too.
Depends what season you go. South Italy, south France, Spain, Greece are very hot in summer. Late spring, late summer and early fall are better. Even Prague could be hot in summer. Why are you picking locations so far apart like Prague and Sicily? With Prague I would pick Vienna and Budapest or Salzburg and Munich or Dresden and Berlin. Sicily would go better with southern Italy.
We are looking to go May or early June. We are looking at Prague first if we go to Sicily because we always wanted to go to both places and the flights are pretty cheap. We have about 11 days not including travel so we are thinking it might be enough time for both. We don't travel a lot and who knows what the future brings so we try to get as much in as possible. If we go to Greece there would be too much travel in that country alone so we wouldn't dream of going to another country if we choose that trip.
Yeah, I don't think Sicily and Prague in 11 days will work out for you. First of all, you aren't going to find non-stop flights to Sicily and probably not between Sicily and Prague. Trying to find an open-jaw itinerary into Prague and back from Sicily with a reasonable connection is going to be a challenge. I think Sicily has more than enough to fill up two weeks and more.
Prague > Vienna > Budapest is a good trip for 11 days. Or Prague and Berlin, with a stop in Dresden. Berlin has lots to offer for 5-6 days. Or Prague > Warsaw (fly) > Krakow - if you can get a flight home from Krakow.
Greece - depends on what you want to do. I haven't been, so I'm just speculating that the mainly archaeological sights are on the mainland - Athens and the Peloponnese Peninsula (take a look at the RS Greece tour). Getting around the islands seems time-consuming. If you find a good cruise that does it - let me know, there used to be one but they went out of business about 5-6 years ago. The ones these days don't give you nearly enough time on land or visit enough places.
I would choose Prague/Berlin, but that's just me! Two places I have not been, but really want to go to!

11 days is a perfect stay in Sicily. You can stay in 3 or 4 place and see a lot. However, it will be getting hot by then....
Have you been to Great Britain? London, Cotswolds, Bath could be a terrific 11 days.
