Costco /Viator savings

Perhaps I am the last person on the forum to discover this, but Costco members get a 15% discount on tours that they purchase through Viator by using this portal https://www.costcotravel.com/specialty/viator

I'm not interested in entering into a debate about 3rd party tour consolidators, simply stating that if you are going to use Viator and are a Costco member, this savings is available to you.

If you have a Chase card, they currently have a July offer of 8% cash back on purchases from Viator. You can combine them and come out with savings of just under 22% which is pretty nice.

Thank you. As someone fairly new to all the services Costco offers, I'll add this to my list.

So the question is, is it worth the risk?

The problem is you put a middleman between you and the tour operator and I know a lot of people for example a couple years ago in Paris the night before their tour of the Eiffel Tower were getting “too bad so sad, Here’s your refund” emails from Viator which didn’t do them any good because they couldn’t just replace the tour

Clearly stated this thread is not for debate, just information for those planning to use Viator.

Carol, thanks for sharing this.

While I always try to book directly with the tour operator, sometimes that isn't possible. I've been in contact with a company in Nova Scotia. There is currently no way to book a tour directly on their website at this time. They have directed me to book their tour through Viator.

As always, before booking with a third party site, do your due diligence so you understand all the terms.

As someone who has two of my travel experiences listed on Viator, I wonder whose pocket that 15% comes out of.

I'm also a Costco member, so on the purchase end it sounds like a good deal!
