Any suggestions on activities to do in Copenhagen with the family over Thanksgiving Break? Looks like the Tivoli Gardens will be open with the Christmas theme, and was wondering if anyone had been there that time of year. We have only visited during the summer!
Hi Carrie---I spend a long Thanksgiving weekend in Copenhagen a few years ago, and it was deleightful. The shop windows along Stroget we already decorated for Christmas, and it felt very festive. Our hotel served a special turkey dinner, with customary Danish flair--it was turkey breast cutlets with a yummy cranberry-merlot sauce.
We didn't do anything different than what we susally do when there in the summer---visit Tivoli, walk the length of Stroget, walk up the Round Tower, visit the Resistance Museum, and maybe go to the Tycho planetarium.
Bear in mind that Thanksgiving is unknown in Europe, it's purely an American/Canadian holiday. Well, we have heard of Thanksgiving from American movies, but it doesn't exist over here. By the way, it can be quite windy and cold in November, so dress accordingly. Museums will be open, though opening hours are shorter than in summer.
