Converters/Adapters (yet) another question

Hello everyone, I tried searching the site for this info but I am having no luck, so I will post my question. You are all always so helpful!

My questions are: (1) Do I have all the right equipment and do they "match up?"
(2) Do I need a voltage converter too?
(3) How do I know if my battery and the charger are single or dual voltage?

Here's all the info I can find on the camera/adaptor/battery/charger.

CAMERA: I have new Sony Cyber-Shot digital camera (on the bottom it says 3.6V).
BATTERY: It takes the square-shaped "D" type Lithium ion rechargeable battery. It says: Battery Pack 3.6V 2.4Wh
I have bought battery another so I can switch them out while in Italy (one in the camera, one in the recharger).

BATTERY CHARGER: The camera came with a battery charger which says :
Input: ~100-240V 50/60 Hz
4.5-7.5 VA 2.2 W
Output: 4.2 V 0.33A

PLUG ADAPTOR: I just bought a Samsonite Worldwide Adaptor Plug that says:

Up to 240 V~ 1500 Watts Max

The adaptor also says, "Adaptor plug only..not to be used as a voltage converter." and "Do Not Use with single 110v AC voltage." and "when using Dual Voltage" Appliances, set appliance voltage to correct setting."

This was probably way too much info. but I thought it might help ! :)

Thanks for you help in advance everyone!

"Input: ~100-240V." That means your charger is dual voltage. Unless the charger has a switch allowing you to choose either 110-120 or 220-240, it will switch automatically to the proper voltage when you plug it in. All you'll need is your new plug adaptor.

Your battery charger appears to be dual voltage. The key is the input side of the battery charger that says "Input: ~100-240V 50/60 Hz" This indicates that the battery charger will accept voltage from 100 volts (or US 110 volts) to 240 volts (or european 220 volts). Check your battery charger for a recessed switch with the the numbers 110 and/or 220 on it. Put it on 220 when you get to europe. It may or may not have this switch. My Canon digital camera, laptop, and iPod chargers do not have such a switch. The device figures it out all by itsself.

I'm not sure about your plug adaptor, but all you need is the adaptor that changes the plug from the male round style continental european plug to the female blade style US plug. No step down of the voltage is required. Mr. Steves sells these on his website for $4.00. Also please be advised that the UK and Ireland have different electrical sockets, and need different adaptors.

Hope this helps.
