Does anyone have information on staying in a convent in Rome? We are going to be there in May and would like to stay in a convent for 2 nights.

The website church of Santa Susanna (the American parish in Rome) has listings of a number of convents. Last time, I stayed at the convent of the Suore di Santa Elisabetta and it was wonderful. I'll definitely go back. It is on a quiet side street in a good neighborhood. It is a half block from Santa Maria Magiore, a tourist info booth, a taxi stand, cafes, and grocery store; a couple of blocks from the metro; and about 4 blocks from Termini. Great views from a rooftop sitting area. Not much English is spoken, but the sisters were kind and patient, and I did fine without knowing Italian. I was there in the winter. Not sure if they have AC, which could be important in warmer weather.
If anyone has been having a problem reaching Convent Suore di Elisabetta.....reason-new e-mail www.elzbietanki-Roma.eu.
Suggest you go to www.santasusanna.org, click on "coming to Rome" and they have a list of convents you can contact.
We normally stay at santa maria alle fornachi which is about 5 minutes from the Vatican, and about the same time from the San Pietro Metro station.
