I just switched from a Samsung to iPhone and am realizing that I can’t access group chats or WhatsApp without the “spinning wheel” connection. Hoping not to have to buy an expensive international phone plan just to check my WhatsApp messages. Does anyone know if the sim card and wifi alone let you check WhatsApp in Europe? Thanks!

Yes, we access WhatsApp either via cell network or wifi.

that is by far the easiest and best way for WhatsApp, although 4g will allow it too.

I'm puzzled as to why you've got the spinning wheel for What's App. I can access either if I am on WIFI or if I have my international data plan switched on my iPhone.
I just went thru the What'sApp settings on my iPhone and don't see anything there that would affect your not being able to access it.
