Am booking flights to Salzburg in late August for RS Eastern Europe tour and returning late Sept. Most web sites show Condor as the cheapest and good flight times. But many reviews of Condor are negative. I realize that most reviews might be of persons who had a bad experience whereas those who had good experience with the airline don't write a review. Can I ask RS forum folks for opinions?? Thanks.
Most of the negative reviews I have seen involve what is deemed by the reviewer to be bad customer service at the airport, following a missed connection or other glitch. Apparently at many airports Condor uses contract agents rather than their own employees, and at times they are unresponsive to complInts or rescheduling needs.
I decided to disregard these and have booked Condor in Business Class for our flight home to Seattle next August. And today my son booked Condor for their Flight over to meet us on the same trip. I will report back on how it goes, it that will not be in time to help with your booking.
On a similar question posed here within the past month, I seem to recall mostly positive reports, and one bad one.
Thanks, Lola. -- Wonder, too, if there is any advantage of booking directly with Condor or through an agency such as Expedia. If Condor has limited staff at airports, if there is a problem, wonder if working with a large U.S. agency might be as helpful as Condor, especially if Condor doesn't have staff close by to help.
Hi John:
Here is my experience. I wanted to get from Seattle to Berlin last September and found that Condor had the least expensive flight to Frankfort where I would transfer to Air Berlin. Condor's in-flight service was below par as I will explain but not enough to deter me from using them again if the price is right. My first gripe is about the dinner that was served. I call it the all starch dinner which consisted of two different rolls (one of which was quite tasty) and a lasagna which appeared to be a meat item but was filled with macaroni plus the sauce. There was a salad and a pudding. At least we got a meal at no extra cost as compared to an earlier flight on IcelandAir. My second complaint is that there were only two choices of free films: the full length cartoon "Amazon" and "STupid Crazy Love" which came out a number of years ago and is shown quite often on television. You had to pay 8 euros to select another film from their menu. Their selection consisted of years old films. The person next to me paid 8 euros to see The Secret Life of Walter Mitty which came out in 2013. So, if you fly Condor be prepared to amuse yourself (the free videos of the landing path at various airports around the world was somewhat amusing).
Have a good flight.
I flew with Condor in 2016 and I agree, the meals were not up to par. Cold chicken nuggets were our main meal coming home.
But on a good note, my daughter’s (and about 20 other people’s) baggage didn’t make it on the plane (yes there is a happy ending). About 5 hours after we got home a young man came up to our door with my daughters bag! Condor had realized luggage didn’t make the correct flight and found another flight to put them on.
I will be flying with Condor again this summer but bringing food with me :)
I've reported here before that we flew Condor premium economy PDX-FRA Rt last June. The extra price on Condor was about the same as basic economy on a US legacy airline. The service, meal, extra legroom and bag allowance all made it worth it. We will consider Condor again. Have a great trip.
I agree with Tom; not sure how adding a layer of bureaucracy helps resolve a problem, should it occur.
Generally you're safer booking directly with an airline or hotel than through a third-party site like Expedia. You have a direct contract with the provider of transportation or lodging, and your whole payment (minus any credit card fee which is inevitable) goes to them instead of the third party taking a cut.
