Luggage/packing light Has anyone used the Autobahn Backpack as their one bag for traveling? I used the Appenzell Day Pack for a 3 week trip and was looking to compare. The bag is great but always seeking to improve my experience. John John Pisano

First, if you went for three weeks with an Appenzell Pack, I admire you. You deserve an A+ in light packing. I own an Appenzell Pack; bought it after my last trip to Europe, when I decided my Essential Carryon was to big. Everything I took and brought back from by last trip fits in it, but just barely. I'm not sure I'll ever use it because 1) it's just barely big enough, 2) I don't like the way it only partially opens, and 3) I want hideaway straps that won't catch on things in the overhead bin. I will probably add some cinch straps to my EC bag and keep using it, because it doesn't have the last two shortcomings. I considered the Autobahn bag, but it is only slightly larger than the Appenzell (7.0" deep vs 6.5") and also has the two fatal (IMO) shortcomings. The Autobahn bag does have a rather deep pocket on the body side, so if you added clips to the bottom of the shoulder straps, you could probably tuck them in there.
