Comfy but classy sandals?

I am looking for a pair of Sandals for when I will be in Europe in May. I would prefer if they were stylish looking and versitile, I dont want just any old Teva looking sandal.

Are there any ladies out there who have found something that fits in this category?

I wore my Naot " Paris"( yes, thats really their name, what a coincidence) sandals last year to Paris, and this year, again to Paris and Italy, for 26 days. They are so comfy and look dressy enough for skirts as well as capris and pants.

I have had tremendous good luck with my Mephisto "Altina" sandals. I have terrible feet, and these sandals actually work for me and keep my feet from hurting. I've had one pair since 1999; recently had them resoled (for $80) and they look brand new. Got another pair in a different color in 2004. They're expensive, but I don't regret it.

Like Teresa, I also have a pair of Mephisto Altina sandals and I too have had them resoled. They are quite comfortable but expensive. I've worn them many times to Europe.

This year, I wore a pair of Ecco yucatan sandals. These have a sturdier sole, but they also look like an athletic sandal ... bigger and clunkier looking. I found these more versatile than the Mephisto as I was able to wear them hiking and they were better on cobblestones.

Would I regret buying a slip on, like a chaco flip flop?

I'll second the Finn Comfort sandals. I bought my pair as the "second" pair of shoes for my trip and ended up wearing them all the time. They looked nice even after a day of touring and my feet felt great. They a variety of looks. They are worth the price. Pam

Lillie,
I am a Mephisto lady. I love the Helen sandal, so
comfortable and they can be worn for a dressier
occasion. I have worn many shoes, birks, eccos, etc.
What I love about Mephisto is the immediate comfort, never a break in period, a bit more expensive. We only get one pair of feet and I want comfort, not too concerned about cost.

I'm not sure if you would classify the Chaco's as classy or dressy at all, IMO they are more casual, but I have 3 pair of them in basic colors. For me, comfort was the deciding factor, as I have recurring Plantar Fasciitis in the right foot, and needed a sandal with very good arch support. I just haven't been able to find this in the other popular Euro-sandals, and definitely not the trendy fashion sandals. If you're looking for comfort, you can't beat the Chacos. Cute, casual, maybe, but classy, stylish...probably not.

Hi Lillie,

... those Privo Poise sandals are cute, but I still think the neatest sandals are those made in India from water buffalo leather, which are also known as "Jesus sandals". I saw those on the Internet for as low as US$19.95 (Nineteen and 95/100 USA dollars).
.... how could you go wrong at that price?

Happy travels! P

Perry we used to wear those water bufflo sandals back in late 70's ,, sure they were comfy,, if you have 17 yr old feet, and don't need padding or arch support, I would never wear them for long walks and rough cobblestones now..
But thanks for the memories,,

I just got back and I wore my Rainbow sandals the whole time in Europe and thy were fine. They cost abotu 50 dollars and you can get them at any surf store. They take a couple of wks to break in because they mold to your feet but they are super comfy, durable, and still stylish (or at least not old-lady like)

I like a sturdy, well-padded, walking sandal. I don't know if you consider this type of sandal "classy". My favorite brands are SAS and Ecco. They aren't cheap but they are good for a lot of walking. When I am traveling happy feet are one of my highest priorities.

Christy are rainbow sandals all flip flops or are there different styles that aren't flip flops??

Since I am an old lady( by your standards anyways,, LOL ) I think flip flops are not dressy enough for going out to dinner and dressing up, but perhaps the rainbow style you got were dressier?
