Comfortable sleeping accomodations

Hello,

My parents will be visiting us in Europe soon. We will be doing some travel around with them. My husband and I are short, thin people who easily fit into "European" style beds at budget hotels which seem to be shorter and more narrow than American beds. My dad however is very tall and has arthritis. I'm concerned that he will be uncomfortable and will not sleep well here due to the smaller beds.

Any suggestions for what hotels to book which will have longer, wider beds? Do American hotel chains have longer beds in Europe?

Thanks in advance!
Ann

If you could be more specific about what countries you will be traveling in, we can give you better advice.

Sure. Right now we are thinking about either Spain or France or Slovenia.

My parents will stay with us for a few days and the beds in our apartment are short!

Thanks,
Ann

You might try Ibis hotels. My husband is 6'2" and he fit ok in their beds in Paris. Whatever hotel you pick, you can always ask them what size the beds are. I do find that the beds without a footboard are more comfortable as you can hang your feet out over the end of the bed. Also, with duvets, you don't have to worry about fitting under the sheets and blankets which is great with tall people. (this drives me crazy in the US, I have to pull all the sheets out at the bottom of the bed!)
Try Holiday Inn, Best Western, Ramada, Hilton or Sheraton.
