Civita Shoulder Bag

I've been using the regular Civita day bag (with backpack straps) for years but I'm thinking of going hands free and using a messenger style bag instead.

Has anyone used the Civita Shoulder Bag? Is the strap long enough to carry it messenger style without it riding too high up?

Any other comments?

Thanks.

Frank: I've been using the Civita Shoulder Bag on all my trips--it's the perfect travel shoulder bag for me. The strap is long enough for me but I'm not tall. Looking at mine, I'd guesstimate that the strap would be long enough for someone who is 6 feet tall, but if you're much taller than that I'm not sure. I really like the bag, it keeps your things in front of you instead of in back (pick-pockets) and also doesn't get your back sweaty like a back-pack style bag does.

Thanks for asking this question because I'm thinking the same thing. I just returned from a trip and found the backpack style a little more difficult & awkward as I age. I looked at the Civita shoulder bag and have been thinking about it. Yesterday I got out a old LeSport Sac duffle with a long strap which will go go across my body. I used one years ago on my first trip to Europe. I need to see how much of my Civita bag stuff will go into it.

Kent: Do you know if the Civita shoulder bag holds as much as the backpack style? Thanks!

Audrey: The backpack style "day bag" holds twice as much as the shoulder bag: 900 cubic inches versus 400 cubic inches for the shoulder bag.

I just received my Civita shoulder bag and it is much smaller than the backpack style. It does have an extra pocket on the outside of the bag (next to the body) which would be good for map or guide book without opening a zipper. The strap is quite long. I'll use it but I have a feeling I may stuff in the backpack style in a corner of my suitcase.

Audrey, being able to "stuff" Civita bags into a corner of the luggage is one of their best features!

You might want to "stuff" it into a corner of your carry-on rather than checked luggage. With a rolled-up coat inside, it makes a great pillow! I've heard this referred to as "Ricardo's secret".

Cheers!

Ken, you are so right! I will stuff it in the shoulder bag.

Hey Rick, FYI, the Civita shoulder bag could be a little larger in size. :-)
