Cinque Terre to Venice to Paris in a day?

I have planned a trip with my husband and two teenage daughters. The girls have never been to Europe before. For the last part of our trip I am trying to go from Cinque Terre to Venice for the day, by train, and fly out of Venice to Paris in the evening. Is this logistically impossible to try to get done in one day? It seems like there are a lot of steps to take and I am feeling a bit overwhelmed...wondering if we should just skip Venice.

JJ,

Going from the Cinque Terre to Venice via train will take you anywhere from 5.5 - 7 hours with multiple train transfers.

I'd probably skip Venice & fly to Paris from the closest airport from CT which is Pisa.

Are you flying home out of Paris?

No way. That's crossing pretty much the whole W-E width of Italy, and the first leg of transportation from the Cinque Terre is not particularly fast.

Easyjet.com flies from Pisa to Paris-Orly.

Your itinerary is just not physically possible. Are you spending much time in the C/T, or do you have more time that can be allotted to Venice?

3 full days in CT and 4 full days in Paris. Flying home direct from Paris. Sounds like we should probably omit Venice and take a flight out of Pisa. I've experienced Venice but it was my 18 year old who has her heart set on it. I could shorten CT to 2 days but I really wanted to take some time and experience this area.

You daughter(s) may plan to study abroad for a semester while in college and then they can visit Venice!

Another option if you haven't booked your flights yet.

Fly into Venice then fly home from Paris.

Or fly into Paris then fly to Venice then fly home out of Milan or Rome.

What other cities will you be visiting on your travels?

jj,

I agree with the others - skip Venice, as it will take the better part of a day to get there. Once you get there, you won't have time to do much more than have a glance at the city on the way to the airport. Although easyJet does have evening flights (I didn't check the other airlines), by the time you get to Paris it will be close to midnight after a long and brutal travel day. Quite simply, it's not worth the effort.

An easier method would be to travel by train from the C.T. to Pisa and use an afternoon flight from PSA to ORY. easyJet has one or more flights each day. There are several methods to get from ORY into Paris.

I would skip CT. If the girls have never been to Europe before, I suggest giving them some bang for your buck! However, it is all subjective and a personal choice. However, when I traveled with my teenage daughter, her interests were priority as a happy teenager makes for a happy trip.
