If you could, where would you spend a Christmas in Europe, and why?
Vienna. There are many markets that are wonderful, the city itself is rich in heritage and culture. We loved it there during Christmas. Salzburg would be my second choice.
Munich has much the same attractions as Vienna and is lovely at Christmas.
We spend Christmas in Hungary every couple of years. Same as the posts above, but of course better.
Hi Ginger,
Wow, if we could spend Christmas in Europe. We've done a couple of trips in late Nov. and early Dec. for the Christmas Markets recently. I'd have to say either Innsbruck or Salzburg. Love the alpine scenery around Insbruck, esp. in winter. We stay in either Ramsau bei Berchtesgaden or Schonau am Konigsee for our Salzburg visits and in Hall in Tirol for our Innsbruck visits. So I'd really be saying we'd stay in Ramsau, Schonau am Konigsee or Hall in Tirol. Love the small town or village atmosphere but like being close to both Innsbruck and Salzburg.

I've never spent an actual Christmas abroad, but early December in London was lovely.
I dream of a Christmas in the French or Swiss Alps.
Ginger,
Then go for Salzburg or Hall in Tirol. There you will have mountain backdrops and a greater possibility of snow. The Austrians really do know how to celebrate Christmas in a very traditional way.
I'm actually not asking for tips about where to go, but thanks for that idea about Austria.
Was only sort of thinking about where others would dream about spending Christmas.
