child stranded in Italy, with expired passport

Any suggestions, for getting the correct paperwork ready for the embassy in Rome on Monday when it opens? My wife and 16 year old are stranded there with an expired passport for my daughter. They missed it on the way over, but the airlines noticed it on the return trip.

I've never been in this situation, but it might be a good idea to get some new passport photos of your daughter before you head to the consulate. My guess is that they will need the photos in order to issue a new passport.

Have you checked the state department website? I'm guessing you'll need her birth certificate at the very least.

Go to the consulate with her passport and two passport sized photos. All the paperwork you need to fill out will be given to you there. It shouldn't take long to get her a new passport or at least a temporary one to get her home.

Frank is right!! Your wife needs to go the the American Embassy first thing Monday morning with your daughter and her passport. If she is able to find some place on Sunday to get passpost pictures taken that save sometime on Monday. If she doesn't then the Embassy will be able to tell her where to go to get them taken. The Embassy will have the papers that your wife will need to complete.
