Have any of you ladies traveled with the Chico's travelers clothing? Does it seem a bit warm and heavy?
I had a few pieces at one time... yes, they look nice, don't wrinkle, but are not natural fabrics so for me they are hot and uncomfortable, and a lot of them sort of look like a travel uniform (not my style)
Sue, Most of my travel clothes are from Chicos, but I don't take the "Travelers" line. They have a Zenergy line of clothes that are perfect. Lightweight, don't wrinkle, dry quickly. I always take black pants, capris etc and then their tops, vests, and jackets. Just mix and match these things, add scarves/jewelry and you have many looks. We just take carry-on luggage on most trips. I do have the travelers line, and if you need dressy clothes for some trips those work well then. Judy
Been wearing traveler's pants for about six years in all weather. Have a jacket to match which goes everywhere. The black is such a saturated black that they don't look flimsy. However, one day last week in Paris it was in the 80s and humid, that one day the pants felt clingy.
Sue, I LOVE the old straight ankle-length Traveler's skirt. Since they tend to change styles a bit through the years, don't know if it's still available. I have three (two emergency back-ups...LOL). I tend to use the Chico's skirt and their old long-sleeve crew-neck top for evening dress (when I HAVE TO be a bit more dressed up). I put some choker-style multi-strand pearls with it or a scarf....and that can be worn multiple times on a tour/cruise, etc. The Traveler's stuff can be rolled in to a ball/packed and comes out wrinkle free. Is it hot? Well, yes/no. If you are walking around Rome in 90+ degree heat, yep, it's hot. But, I've been known to wear the skirt with a non-Traveler's top, and it works great. But, my favorite day-time touring skirt (and at-home skirt) is from JJill.....the Wearever Pencil skirt, and I just looked on their site, and it's on sale for $29 right now. It is above the knee, and it wears like iron, but it also packs as well as (or even better) than the Traveler's line from Chico's. It also has better substance...does not feel as synthetic...looks more like cotton. JJill has several other Wearever pieces, but I only have used the pencil skirt......and yes, I own two and will probably pick up a third on sale now. Be aware, though, their sizes run large, so you may want to order down a size.
I Love Chico's traveler's line for our trips to Europe in Spring and Fall when the weather isn't as hot. For my summer travel I usually take a number of their Zenergy bottoms (capri's and pants, in cream, light grey, brown and black). Worked great for me last July in Rome, Naples and Amalfi Coast when it was in the 80's. Unfortunately they don't seem to have as many Zenergy color choices as they did a few years ago. I have a tendency to "save" my travel items for trips and everything I own looks brand new. Started purchasing them 6 years ago - I generally buy 1 or 2 items each year to add to my "collection" and love them. They are light weight, pack well, roll up and don't wrinkle. They wash out in the sink -- roll lightly in a towel to get rid of some excess moisture -- hang to dry and usually are ready the next day. When shopping I tend to always look for lightweight tops that I can mix & match for summer travel use. Bon Voyage!
