Perhaps by tomorrow morning all the spam postings will be deleted. Yikes!
The way to get the Webmaster's attention is to click on the Report violations blue text at the bottom of the page.
He, or this week She, does not scan down all threads and might well miss this thread.
They always receive the Report violations message.
Thanks for always reporting spam via the link.
I am going to be honest. You have made it WAY to hard to report a violation. Requiring me to fill out a long form, verifiy I am human etc to clean up YOUR web page??? Sorry, but after I did it a few times I quit. You n eed to find an "easy" button like most of the other travel forums have.
The problem is no one is minding the store overnight. This spammer knows he can post something after hours, and it will stay up all night (until noon eastern time and all day in Europe).
Perhaps the webmaster can put a limit on the number of posts that can be made by a new user. I doubt that any new user (other than a spammer) posts more than once or twice the first day.
Carol, I think this is why they/we call it a community, because we make a communal effort to make it work well. It's OUR web page. And, it's not a long form, in my view.
Don't know what Carol is complaining about. For me takes about 15 secs to complete the form. That is not unreasonable but my computer does do auto fill so maybe that is the difference.
Yes. After I posted this I took a couple minutes to use the Report Violaton link.
Psst... I checked it. ;)
Thanks to everyone for your comments. We are hoping to improve how reporting works in the future.
At least these passport and credit card scam postings have seriously slowed down in the past month. Either that or they are being blocked out a lot quicker.
It's really easy to recognize these spammers. So, it's easy to ignore them. I actually admire Rick Steves for allowing staff to not work nights and weekends. It reminds me that we used to live in a world that wasn't 24/7 and people were allowed to have life. As a friend of mine used to say, it's not like we're neurosurgeons and someone's life is in danger. :) It can wait 8 hours or even 48 hours over the weekend for spam to be deleted.
Pam
Thumbs up for Pamela
I too like what Pamela has to say. They are rather humorously obvious. I must say folks here are very diligent and hardworking about it because I rarely see them once I log on, so someone must have reported it and then someone in the offices must have taken it down.
My only request is that the passport/drivers license sites stay up for awhile; I like to take my time while shopping around. I learned the hard way - not all of these sites are legit ;-)
The only problem I have with spam is when they dredge up old threads that then stay at the top of the thread pile after the spam has been removed. To my recollection, it seems like the ancient threads are put back in their place after Yoda the Webmaster has deleted the spam. Correct? On a busy weekend, that can mean several ancient threads clogging up the works :-(
