I would like some ideas on where to fly to from Seattle to save some $$$
One airline that you might look at is Iceland Air. Of course, you have stop in Iceland but I've seen some nice fares over the past year. They do fly out of Seattle.
When searching for fares last year, Icelandair always came up as the cheapest. I ended up booking a round-trip to Amsterdam for last October, for about $650. This was a student fare through STA, but the regular fares through Icelandair's website were still around $800 at the time. They have since partnered with Alaska Airlines, which is great for mileage plans, if that is what you're using.
We generally fly Air France, British Airways, or Delta. We have always managed to get great deals on-line. Our preference is Air France - into Paris, bien sur - because of the food and wine. That being said, we have noticed some screamin' deals on Icelandair, and plan to check it out next time.
keep you eyes open about air canada. i have used it for flights to greece and turkey with good deals. always compare with expedia.
Every time we go to Vancouver, BC we pass Air Canada storefronts and DROOL over the prices. Some day, we may try to figure out the logistics of flying out of Canada. Just by serendipity, I don't think we've ever flown Air Canada out of Seattle... although Air Canada does leave from SeaTac. Maybe we have missed some deals!
Thank you for the great input!
