Cheap insurance for elderly in UK?

Hello everyone.

I'm 44. And I'm taking my parents from UK to Poland to see some relatives. My parents are both 68 and as you may know not many agencies insure elderly. So do you know any companies that do?

Thanks in advance.

EDIT
Sorry, I mistyped the age! My parents are 78, not 68. Although 78 may not be generally considered elderly. I want to add that both my parents have medical conditions and sadly they would not be able to run a marathon.

I want to apologize, I didn't mean to hurt anyone's feelings.

when you pass 44 and reach 68 you will know that 68 is not elderly.

Are you British? Saga.

Anyone should check with their healthcare insurance company prior to traveling outside the U.S. to verify that they're covered elsewhere.

My wife is on Medicare with outside supplements, and she is not covered for healthcare outside our boundaries. And that includes Mexico and Canada. My Anthem Blue Cross Blue Shield coverage is good worldwide.

I didn't obtain outside medical coverage when we went to Canada this Summer, as we were not that far from the U.S. border. I took a risk.

But when we go to Europe in the Spring, we'll be buying travel insurance with good medical coverage. And there are a number of companies available online to buy insurance from. The prices are very competitive.

I am shocked to hear you say 68 is elderly and I'm not much older than you are foreigner.freedom. A person isn't elderly until they're at least over 80 and it still all depends on their state of health. An 85 yo that runs a marathon is still not elderly in my book.

Anyway... check InsureMyTrip.com

Well, these companies might not call them "elderly", but many of them classify their customers over 60 (in some instances over 50) as "Seniors" and extend what they call a "Senior Discount". So relax, grouchy Senior Citizen Helpliners! Look at all the perks you get… I still have to drag my elderly Dad along with me just so I can get his senior discount at Kohl's and Banana Republic to buy myself something. But he's fine with that as long as I buy him lunch afterwards at one of the many restaurants that offer senior discounts.

Ceidleh has a point: 68 is elderly. At 68, you are 6 years beyond eligibility for Social Security, and you’ve been collecting senior discounts for 18 years. Why get your pants all bungled up over a single adjective? Isn’t “elderly” a lot more pleasant and respectful than “old”?

With the exception of a few, nearly everyone here is from the U.S. or Canada with zero to very little knowledge about health insurance options for Polish citizens living in the U.K. You may wish to check someplace else.

Speaking of marathons, there was a 100 year-old guy that ran the Toronto marathon a year or two ago, and he did it wearing slacks, a dress shirt, and a turban. He was elderly but not old. Reminded me of the elderly guy who used to live next door…would mow the lawn in dress slacks, wingtips, an oxford shirt, and a cardigan. Elderly folks still care alot about how they look in public apparently.

I got excited for my parents when I saw that list with 10% off for Alaska Airlines. But it is not correct. Alaska Air says they do not offer senior or student discounts.

Outrigger Hotels (Hawaii) gave me a seniors discount. It applies to over 50 . I was pleased as punch.

foreinger.. may I suggest you go post this on the London forum on tripadvisor.com I think it would be way more helpful as there are more locals that post there and other then the few Brits we have here.. ( who are very helpful) we really are not a bunch liklely to know much about insurance for those who live in the UK.

( Ps you mention they have some health issues.. beaware that many insurance policies I have dealt with do not cover problems from conditions that are chronic or where you have had recent issues.. be careful when comparing insurance plans)

Foreigner, I live in Scotland and took my grandparents to the continent quite a few times when they were over 80. There are plenty of insurance options, true, but the one that suited my family was Globelink Insurance. They offer comprehensive policies for people over 80 even. Besides they cover for free many pre-existing conditions. We had to claim only once, but it saved us a lot of trouble and money. So check Globelink here http://www.globelink.co.uk/, they may help you.

P.S. Have a fabulous travel.

Thank you all for the tips!
I was pretty sure that I'll go with Saga, as a lot of people suggested it. They have pretty good rates for seniors, and are more suitable for an older generation than WorldNomads. I checked out Globelink Travel Insurance that someone suggested and went with it. They are much cheaper and always give a 10% discount if you submit a travel story. I wrote couple line about my travel to Spain and got a pretty good deal for my parents' insurance. Thanks again!
