Chase BA Visa dropping Foreign Transaction Fee

Like many other cards, Chase charged a 3% foreign transaction fee on all purchases made in currency other than U.S. dollars. Effective this month, Chase is eliminating the fee and joining a few select other cards, like Capitol One, who don't charge it either.

I should have also mentioned that they're currently running a special for people applying for the card--50,000 miles good enough for one transatlantic trip to the UK and parts of western Europe. You get 25k miles for signing up, and an additional 25k miles after charging $2500 in the first 3 months. BA miles can also be used on most of the other Oneworld airlines as well. I don't work for any of the companies mentioned but I do use the card.

I just cashed in on such a fabulour British Airways Visa deal. I got 50,000 miles for getting the card and then 50,000 more miles for spending $2,000 over the next three months. So in effect, $100,000 miles for spending just $2,000. I just used the 100,000 miles to buy 4 rountrip - open jaw - tickets (NY-Rome/London-NY) for $700 each for next July (the current rate per ticket is about $1350 each). Basically about 2 free roundtrip int'l tickets. GREAT deal! Now I can use the card on the trip and not pay the 3% foreign transaction fee, even better!
