Channel Islands

Has anyone visited the Channel Islands? Is there enough of interests to make it worth taking the time to visit them on a London trip?

I found them interesting but there are many more places closer to London that are probably of more interest. How long will you be in London and is this your first visit?

I live in Guernsey, lots of people spend a whole week in either Guernsey or Jersey. If you are interested in walking/sea swimming, wild life, beautiful cliffs, island hoping, Victor Hugo or the occupation of the islands during WW2, then there will be plenty to keep you busy!!!

We have been to Guernsey, stopped there for a day on a cruise. It was interesting. We took a bike tour around part of the island.

If this is your first trip to London then I would not visit the islands. There's more than enough to do in and around London and imho not worth the time or expense.

Well if its the Occupation you are interested in then I would forget London and come to Gsy for the week!!! There are at leadt 5 Occupation Museums, walking tours, bunkers and Observation Towers to visit. Also Liberation Day on 9 May is our Bank Holiday and the whole island will be partying as we celebrate the 75th Annniversary of the Liberation! I will be down on the sea front wearing my fathers Liberation Medal that all the island children who were here during the Occupation got given.

I haven't visited the WWII-related sites on Guernsey, but I found the War Tunnels memorial/museum on Jersey very interesting. It focuses on the use of foreign slave laborwr), many from Eastern Europe, to build Nazi fortifications.
