Does anyone know if it is possible to exchange Swiss coinage at the Frankfurt airport into euros for our trip to Italy? We have about one hundred dollars worth and a decent layover in Frankfurt airport. Thanks.
Can't give a definitive answer, but it would be rare that a currency exchange would take coins, they usually only accept paper.
Agree to Paul. You can try to contact Reisebank and ask them.
I have never encountered any exchange anywhere in the world that accepts coins from other country. It's a hassle to handle.
The only thing I can think of is to make it to the Swiss border to change them. But you're not likely to do that, right? I have an entire pewter bowl with coinage from all over that I failed to get rid of. It's a bummer.
And if you can't exchange them (which I doubt you can), you'll be stuck lugging them around around Italy for the rest of the trip.
Thanks everyone for your help.

I have, many times. Although usually only coins over a certain value. And the Swiss franc have some valuable coins.
I think we will contact the bank mentioned here and ask. Yes, you are correct. I really do not want to carry them al over Italy.
