Central Europe trip in September Query

Hi folks
Can I get your advice on which of these two itineraries will be better for me?
Main difference is considering the option between traveling to Ljubljana, Slovenia with Poprad (Tatras), Slovakia. I am not much into hiking, but can do a short hike.

I'll be traveling solo, most likely, and will not have access to a car, so I will rely on public transportation for the most part.

Hard to say without knowing your specific interests. A couple of generic comments/questions:

  1. What's the interest in Poprad?

  2. I think most people would benefit from spending more time in Stockholm than in Copenhagen, though they're both lovely. But Stockholm has more places of broad interest IMO.

I don't really know anyone who's spent time in Ljubljana, unfortunately. I think I need to get to Slovenia sometime soon.

I can't help with your basic question, having never been to Poprad. I do like Ljubljana. You need to be sure public transportation will allow you to fully enjoy Poprad and the surrounding area, and I just don't know the answer to that.

My main thought is that the planned time in Stockholm is painfully short. I naven't been to Copenhagen for over 50 years, so I can't draw a comparison between that city and Stockholm.

Option 1’s overnight in Warsaw seems like wasted time. Any reason you couldn’t go directly to Budapest on day 1? If you wanted to see something of Warsaw (which is not a bad idea) a stopover there between Krakow and Gdansk would be better.
I like Ljubljana but it doesn’t fit very well geographically with the rest of the itinerary, for just 3 days in Slovenia with jet lag and a night bus.

I've been to Poprad a couple of times. Its an okay place to stage for fly fishing and for seeing some of the Tatras, but I vote for number 2. Runs smoother.

I guess there is a bargain airfare to Ljubljana? Check Zadar and Podgorica anf Tivat too.

Without knowing why you have chosen these options, it’s difficult to choose. However, I might go with #2. Mainly do you want to see some of Slovenia or some of Slovakia? Are the flights to and from easier one way or the other? But it doesn’t make a lot of sense to arrive in Warsaw for only one night. If you do choose #1, consider flying to Budapest from Warsaw.

On the rest of your itinerary, without knowing why’s, I would probably choose the train Krakow to Gdansk over the bus. With 6 hours, it’s nice to have the option to move around some. And I would be moving a day to Stockholm from Copenhagen. Otherwise, you have nice pacing while covering a lot of distance.

Trip 2 keeps going on the ground seeing Europe like at pro ... except the Gdansk / Copenhagen flight. No train or bus for that?

I agree with the others. I haven't been to Stockholm (it's on my radar for next year) but Copenhagen, which is a lovely city, can easily be seen in 2-3 days, and Stockholm really deserves more time (from what I've read).

I'm also curious why you're not flying directly into Budapest from Delhi in Option 1, especially since you're only spending one night in Warsaw?
