I have a tracfone that I can not use outside of the US. I have a lay over in Heathrow, I want to buy a cheap phone to call for taxis and hotels. Any suggestions? I have my iPad for staying in touch. Shirley
Shirley, If you have a layover at LHR, where is your ultimate destination? You may want to buy an inexpensive phone at your destination instead. If you buy a phone in England and use in another country, you'll be "roaming" and the costs will be slightly higher and topping up may be an issue. Some additional information would be helpful. Cheers!
Look for Carphone or an EE shop. Inexpensive phones with prepaid minutes cost as little as 20 GBP.
If you will be returning to London, you might use the Hailo app to get a taxi rather than calling for one. Hailo is now well respected and used by many.
You might go to the Vodaphone store in T5 which is on the departure level outside security to see what their options are.
