Celebration for royal baby?

I will be going to London mid July and I was wondering what type of celebration may happen if Kate Middleton has her baby while I'm there. Does anyone know what I could expect? I know a lot of you probably don't care much about it, but I think being there when a bit of history is made would be fun.

Church bells will ring and much will be made of it on the BBC ... if it is a slow news week.

Also, do not assume that all British people love and worship the Windsors.

No, don't expect a divorce, just wondering what might go on if she has it "while I'm there". I do realize not all British people love their monarchy, as well as most others that probably don't care or have any interest in Kate's baby, but I guess being a women it seems fun for me. I still remember when Prince William and Harry were born as well as some royal weddings, so it is just a fun idea. I do hope church bells will ring and I hope I hear people talking about it. I doubt I'll be reading the paper or watching the news since I'll be on vacation, but I do hope I hear if it happens.

The biggest celebration will be staged by the souvenir industry peddling twee trash.
No doubt the media will go mad, but relativelly harmlessly by their standards. It is well to remember that this child will be a full three generations away from the throne in a family where the women in particular -- the current queen, her mother, and Victoria especially -- tend to last longer than the national debt.

I hope I didn't offend anyone by calling the Duchess Catherine, Kate Middelton. I guess that is all I ever hear her called. I didn't even realize what you were refering to Keith!

Susan and Monte: The reference to "divorce" was made because the Duchess of Cambridge is no longer Kate Middleton. When Diana married Prince Charles no one continued to call her Diana Spencer but many people can't seem to stop thinking of Prince William's wife as Kate Middleton. Not important ... just a passing comment.

I don't worship the monarchy either, but I do find it interesting and think it would be fun to be in London when Kate gives birth. As for referring to her by her maiden name, this is probabaly because she was "Kate Middleton" for YEARS ( and was still constantly in the media so we were all quite exposed to her with that name) waiting for Wills to be ready for marriage, ,lol, unlike Diana who got an old guy ready to get it over with, lol Susan, I do hope you are there when she gives birth I imagine it will put a smile on alot of peoples faces for a few days at least, most will be excited to see if its a boy and girl and to find out the prepousterous name it will be saddled with, lol And those church bells ringing will be kind of nice!

priceless or not the statement made by Philip is true. I saw no indication of personal involvement in the post.

Nothing like bringing the monarchy into a discussion group for everyone to get their "english" up. :)

oh. hmmm. We have lots of people named Philip, and our Philip is a valued member of this little happy family. I never thought of him as the Queen's husband. If he were being discussed it would have been Price Philip, or the Duke of Edinburgh. Never just plain "Philip". oh, joke.... ha.
