Rather than staying in a hotel, we want to find a castle to rest our peasant bones! France and Germany is where we're thinking. Lots of websites, but no "I stayed there and would never go back if they paid me...." sites found yet. Tell me where you stayed and how it was! Thanks, jean-paul

Tripadvisor also rates castle hotels/B&Bs. One that's often recommended is Burg Schoenburg in Oberwesel overlooking the Middle Rhine. That particular castle offers accommodations in two parts, one is a very nice and expensive hotel, the other part is like a youth hostel. We stayed in the youth hostel part and very much enjoyed it. We stayed at Chateau de Rosieres. It is so fabulous. It's a real castle with tons of charm and ambiance. It's in the countryside but they can recommend a little town nearby for an evening meal. http://www.chateauderosieres.com/mainuk.html Also try http://www.chateauxhotels.com/
