I was in Europe almost 20 years ago and took travellers checks. What do you recommend now? We'll have a credit card but should we bring travellers checks and exchange in Europe for Euros or do it here in the states?

I go to Europe every year---haven't bought a travellers check since the 90's I carry emergency American $ IN A MONEYBELT - two atm cards (debit cards-one that thinks it is a credit card too) and my credit cards. I get out money from the ATM only with the debit card...credit cards have extra 'cash advance' fees. Then I use credit cards here and there. It is actually getting hard to change traveller checks and you get killed by fees/comissions/etc...
