Does anyone have experience with packing carryon only and taking Lufthansa Cityline and Austrian Airlines? Are they strict about enforcing the stated dimensions and weight?
We will be on both of these airlines later this summer as part of a two week trip and are trying our best to do carryon only but their 8kg weight limit for carryon baggage is pretty daunting.
Lufthansa are very strict and will do things like weigh at the gate. Austrian are less so. The best dodge if you end up a bit over 8kg is to remove a couple of items and carry them on by hand. They don't seem to mind if you do this.
It’s been a while since I flew Lufthansa but they were quite strict. We had fairly typical carry on wheeled luggage and they made us check it.
