Hello travelers - while pricing a two week rental (AutoEurope) of an economy model car for Spain and France, when I added CDW, Theft Protection, etc. the price more than doubled. When I contacted TravelGuard their travel insurance with rental car coverage appeared to be a good value but it DID NOT include theft protection. Has anyone had experience with protectyourbubble especially making a claim on an international rental? My platinum VISA card with Wells Fargo does NOT cover international rentals but my Capital One MasterCard claims to cover international rentals (incl. theft) - again, what have your experiences been? Other suggestions?

Just curious - were you intending to rent in one country and drop in the other? There is usually a significant charge for doing that. One problem with third party insurance is that if there is an accident you generally have to pay the damages and then wait to be reimbursed. Protectyourbubble would be the same way.

Nancy - thanks for your posting. The rental is a "round trip", starting at BCN and returning the car to BCN. The rental car company insurance is double the price of the rental. perhaps I am being penny-wise and pound foolish here - $20 per day with worry versus $40 for "peace of mind". OBTW - I've rented more than a dozen times in the EU. My current angst comes from carefully reading the fine print of a TravelGuard policy where Theft Protection was included.
