We are taking a bus/ train from Galway to Killarney and hopefully staying at the Killeen House. I read in one forum that a busy stops near the hotel. We will make that our home base for 3-4 day. We are also thinking about renting a car there and taking day trips. Question… is there enough to do to spend 3-4 days? Also, has anyone had any experiences renting a car there. Any advice on driving the roads during those rental days? We also are planning on driving to the Dingle Peninsula. We will return the car and then take the train to Cork for the last few days as we will fly from there on Ryanair to Edinburgh. Has anyone flown out of there to Edinburg? The airline limit for 1 piece of luggage is 20kg. Are they pretty struck about that?
Thanks so much for any advice.
is there enough to do to spend 3-4 days? Yes, especially if you decide to rent a car. One day would be the Dingle Peninsula, one day the Ring of Kerry (or you can do a group day tour to either peninsula), one day Killarney National Park.
Any advice on driving the roads during those rental days? Take your time, get the smallest car available with an automatic transmission. Use the pull outs for oncoming traffic on the one lane roads.
