We would like to rent a car while in France. We would like to drive from Paris to Nice. The problem is, the price we were quoted was reasonable, but we could not get an answer how much insurance would be. Does anyone know what the addtional cost would be.
Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

Frank, who are you trying to book with? Take a look at Kemwel.com. Just checked, and a 3 day rental Ford Focus (inclusive) in June is $196.00 pick up at rail station and drop the same. Also check auto europe.com

You can save on a three-day rental by comparison shopping the major companies such as Europcar, Sixt, Hertz and Avis, just as you would in the U.S. Consolidators such as gemut.com, AutoEurope and Kemwell might arrange a rental for you, but their focus is on rentals of a week or more. A quick check reveals that Sixt offers rentals starting at $136 for three days from the Gare Lyon outside Paris, but full insurance coverage with them would cost more than the car. I purchase full insurance coverage through American Express Premium for $25 for the entire rental period. Some people say that is overkill since credit card companies are supposed to cover damages, but I see this as an extra layer of protection.

Roy, Thanks for the response. Funny you should mention American Express. We got an email from the this morning that offered just that coverage. Looking into it Thanks again,
