My wife and I will be driving through Croatia in late April 2014. I wonder if there is a car ferry from Dubrovnik to Corfu around April 20th. If not Dubrovnik perhaps some location close by. I have tried to google this but have not found anything. There seems to be a ferry service out of Bari, Italy but I don't want to have to take a ferry to Italy to bet back to Greece!! Does anyone know if there is a car ferry service to Corfu out of Dubrovnik? Thanks for your help. John F.
It looks like there should be an easy way to get from Croatia to Greece, but I haven't found it. A few years ago we ended up going overland through Montenegro and Albania, which took a few days. The ferry from Dubrovnik to Bari and then to Corfu is one option. Another is flying from Dubrovnik to Athens, which generally also involves going through another country (i.e. to Rome, then Athens). Check the Lonely Planet ThornTree forum, and the Balkanology website, to see if there's any recent information.
I think pretty much all of Europe's ferries are listed on www.directferries.com.
There is no direct ferry, a ferry to Italy, then to Corfu would be the only option. In other logistics concerns, is the car your personal car or a rental? I ask because just about any rental agency has restrictions or added fees for taking a car across some borders/countries and many do not allow cars to be taken on ferries. Even then, a car would be a burden and an expense to haul on a ferry and of not much use on Corfu.
