Car charger for celly

Has anyone used their cell phone car charger in Ireland? Is the voltage compatable? One "expert" told me it would be fine...another told me that cars in Europe put out 13.5 volts (12 in U.S.).
Thanks

What about carrying one of those emergency chargers or hand crank chargers? (I take those with me when I'm roughing it up north.) Or carry a back-up fully charged battery.

Probably charging your cell phone at the wall outlet at night would be good for at least a day or two between charges. Or if you're stuck, and yours doesn't work, you could always buy a car charger upon arrival.

I use one constantly, without any problem, since the voltage levels are the same. Actually, both your experts are correct. The 12-volt reading is only at the battery....after the alternator/generator, the reading is over 13.5 volts in both American and European vehicles. But to keep it easy to understand, they're called 12-volt systems.

I use my regular cell phone car charger in Ireland, too -- no problems.
