cannot physically purchase plane tickets

I will try to keep this as short as possible. There are 6 of us traveling so the cost of our tickets is about $7900. I do not have an actual credit card and my bank will not increase the daily limit on my check card over $5000. We are trying to book online and my question is this. If we split it into 2 purchases of 3 will the airline..specifically Lufthansa..let us combine us into one reservation after the fact? I am worried otherwise if our flight gets changed or something like that we could end up on different flights. Is this something I should be worried about or am I overthinking things?
Thanks-
Tracy

1) I do not think LH will let you combine the 3 record locators into one.
2) I think you are over thinking it.

thank you..I called Lufthansa directly and they said once booke to call them and they can link the two together so they know we are traveling together.
My husband says I always overthink things :)

I was going to add exactly what you did in your last post. Even though you have tickets purchased separately, as long as they are on the same flights, the airline can link the various tickets so that a change in one ticket affects all linked tickets.

Since I travel for business on occassion and my wife will travel with me, My company books my ticket, she buys hers, then we have them linked. As a practical example, we are going to London at the end of February, Delta already changed our flight, causing a major reschedule, so at least they were able to change both tickets with different locators.

This would be useful for any group travelling together.

You could either go thru a travel agent, or run by the airport Lufthansa sales desk and pay cash in person. They could link'em together at that time.

I do not think you are over-thinking this at all. I had friends who chose to make their reservations separately, but planned to travel together. They weren't linked in the computer and when a flight was cancelled, they were booked individually on different flights, with radically different itineraries.

I just had to do this with American and was given the same procedure. Other than the 25 min.wait on the phone, it went smoothly.
